It's brewed to the Reinheitsgebot, the 1516 Bavarian purity law allowing only water, malt, hops and yeast, which Namibia Breweries still follows by choice.
Windhoek Lager is a crisp, German-style lager brewed in Namibia since the 1920s, sold everywhere from braai stands to shebeens and street kiosks. It's the default order at outdoor grills and open-air markets across the country.
Why it's made this way: Namibia's German colonial history left behind a serious brewing tradition, and Windhoek Lager turned that inheritance into the country's most recognized everyday drink.
